Ticking getting louder in 09 RKC

My 09 FLTR started ticking recently. Just before 3000 miles. Had oil changed recently and Indy said he 'heard ' it also. Recommended taking to dealer to listen/check it out. I'll let you know what they say. This is definitely an engine noise, from the front jug, easily heard at idle and higher rpms with bike in neutral and stationary. Doesn't seem to be any worse or better riding or warm or cold, it's just 'there' and you're right Chief...it sucks!

OK so my bike ticks too. Best as I can recall it started at about 1000 miles when I changed oils and put Redline in. I have ALWAYS run Redline products aBUT never had a 96 inch engine. So I was going to bring it to the dealer and let them listen/diagnose and I thought I would change the oil so I could say I was running HD Oil, lest they give me that line of crap...Guess what...put HD 20/50 in, new filter, fired her up NO TICKING..I am amazed...could it be? Couldn't ride but ran it for about 20 minutes til up to operating temp. Will ride timorrow and see. I'll still have it looked at but maybe this is the simple fix....What do I know?

I took my 04 Road King to HD for 30,000 mile service and replace the shift shaft seal. They put Syn-3 in the gear box. All kinds of new noises were evident. I changed back to Royal Purple 75W90. I love the sound of quiet. Granted, it takes a little more effort to find neutral but I will happily pay that small price not to hear worrisome metallic noises from the tranny.
