trouble

I have a 1989 fxrs sp with no modes. Lately the bike will not take fuel under no load . Have no problem with idle or under power .Any sugestions

What do you mean by "under no load"? The engine is either idling or under power.... one of the other. Can you be more specific? The more information we have, the better we can help you.

Has anything on the engine changed before the problem started? It could be bad gas, a clogged fuel filter, or the carb might need a rebuild and/or adjustment. It might also be spark plugs or wires. What does your factory service manual say in the troubleshooting section? If you don't have the book, I'd get one ASAP before you start messing with anything.

thanks for the reply I meant that the bike does not rev easily or without backfiring when idling or downshifting.When riding it is fine and takes gas and responds well.
