Its as sickness, I tell you ! Scott, you are right, done right the big builds are a lotta fun and require minimal maintenance, but the fact is that they do require different care and treatment than a 103 -107. But man, are they fun to ride, twist the wick and go. I was playing with a Yamana 750 on the interstate a couple of months ago and smoked him from 65 mph to 100, then it was all over but for the shouting. He rolled back to me and we pulled off, he had never had a HD toast his bike at any spead before.

Part of the sickness for some of us is that the project is never quite complete. I know of at least 4 of the big inch bikes on this forum that are now tore down and also know of a 103 going to a 124.

Yes, it is costly but it is better than spending money on hookers and drugs!

The Hayabusa is about the quickest roll-on bike out there. You have to throw alot of money on a Harley to even get close in a top gear roll-on race. It's a common misconception that the IL4 sportbikes need to downshift 2-3 gears to get going.

The is quite possible the most preposterous thing I've ever heard. A 250 Ninja packing 30hp and 15 ftlbs torque will do no such thing. The only way it happens is if the Harley stalls off the line. A built Harley will destroy it. I have a female friend that rides one and the thing barely gets out of it's own way.

I love my harley but I'm done with the performance stuff on it. But I do like the idea of personalizing it to make it a cool looking bike. Imho that is the best way to spend money on a cruiser.

Thedonthere and guys that get enjoyment out of doing the work...well, that is the exception...nothing better than being in the zone...

Those bikes will flat wax a Jap sportbike at 65-70 mph, both pulling high gear roll on throttle runs. Plain fact.
Sure, after the 4 cylinder, overhead cam, 5 valve, multiple t/bodied,(and solenoid controlled intake tracts on some) factory tuned pipe, vaiable ignition timing, lightweight machine finally gathers a head of steam, it'll roll around those bikes. And.............?
Wendover, Utah is a great place for those.

I assume you are joking? So let me get this straight. You're statng that a tricked out 800 pound bike with lets say..120 hp? ok 150hp will out accelerate a 250 lb sport bike with 165 hp? BTW, my zx1100 is stock (except for a header).

The only thing you would see is my tail lights. You're HD gonna do 200mph is 20 seconds or less..please.

I love my Harley (s). My 95ci Roadglide is my favorite and will keep up with most V Twin (with over 100hp and 127ft lbs of torque,) but to state that it will out perform a High Performce Jap bikes is ludricous.
