I'm no wrench, but am puzzled & hope I can get some idea of what's going on w/my engine. When it's cold it is sluggish; no coughs, wheezes, or popping etc...just doesn't have the power it should. It's almost like something's holding it back. After it warms up good it opens up & runs much better, but IMO not as strong as it should given the mods. All my buddies say that there bikes run as good cold as they do after warm up, but there's certainly a big difference in mine...anybody wanna take a stab at this'n?

BTW, I did do a test for sumping: rode it awhile then turned it off & pulled the crankcase plug. Now I didn't get to pull the plug till about 10 mins after I shut it off, & only got a few ozs out of it, but it continued to slowly dribble oil. Did I mess the test up by waiting too long? What else can I check? This is my 1st Harley, surely this isn't normal is it?
It's hard to guess whats going on, but one thing for sure.... you really don't wanna be "getting on it" before it's warmed up anyway. I typically try to stay below 3k RPM for a least several minutes. Do you have an oil temp guage in place of the useless ambient air temp guage? If so, you know how long it REALLY takes to get heat in the oil.
While 50K is not really "high milage" for a TC engine, I would not be a bit surprised if most of this issue doesn't "disappear" soon.... A little TLC (and ??? magic) on that motor will make it all happy again. You just wait!
YOu don't notice any smoke when you first fire it up, do ya? If you have a leaky valve seal letting some oil into the chamber might make it sluggish until it burns out. An air leak could possibly cause it.... there are too many things to speculate on.
Get your new stuff ready, and diligently assemble it & I bet all will be well!
