I've been asking around lately and emailed a shop today about a pipes install and tune for my FLHX, see the response I got below...the 8 hrs to tune is the thing I'm amazed at...really?
Vance and Hines Dresser Duals $351.96 V&H Hi Outout mufflers $559.96 Master Tune Module $367.96 Air Cleaner Kit $111.96 Jon Miller custom MAP $199.99 8 hours to tune dresser duals $624.00 Total plus tax $2215.83
It doesn't sound right, I don't understand the $199.99 "custom" map then the $624 tune. I spent less then $2,300 for pipes, a/c, tuner, cams, rockers and porting. I think you should shop around.
Im guessing that 8 hours is labor for installing everything and a tune. Not sure why the $200 charge for a Miller Custom Map - think base maps are free with the Master Tune Module. Call TTS yourself and ask them. And, install everything yourself, even if you need a friends help. You can tune it yourself with the Master Tune Vtune software included. Looks like you have bike experience and are familiar with efi bikes given your Ducati with PC III.
Thanks for the replies....yeah Im not really buying into it...they told me its harder to tune a true dual bike hence the 8 hrs..but for christ's sake 8 hrs really?...are we tuning a F1 engine here?..I know I can install the pipes but Id most likely have to trailer it somewhere where theres a dyno to finish the job correctly....I've never really fully mapped anything but I know what all of that entails...hell my brother's 999 superbike didnt even require that much tuning when he got his full termignoni race exhaust and high comp pistons put in...
