Ultra Classic with se slipon's, air and sert. I hope this is not a real dumb question but I'm sure you'll let me know if it is haha. I hear a metalic engine noise before up shifts at about 2500 rpm and up. In a car engine I would describe it as rod or piston slap type noise. It is not too loud but just a little problematic for me. By the way it is an 06, and I dooooooo love it.
I have that exact same noise on my 06 Roadglide. Mine happens at 2800-3000when cold. When bike is hot it seems to go away. So far nobody can tell me what it is.

Hope this is helpfull. (If the noise is on the exhaust side) All TC88 have a cam chain noise that will drive you crazy until you get use to it. I have alot of friends that ride em and they all describe the same noise.
If the noise is on the primary side you may won't to get the compensator nut checked to make sure it hasn't backed off - 2 buddies of mine had to have theirs tightened and the dealer used red locktight to keep it tight.
Whats funny is mine only does it under load. Sitting still, I can rev it up all day long and never hear anything. Even had it on a lift and let the rear wheel spin, 3000 rpm on first three gears and no noise. Out on the road the engine clacks away. And it really doesnt sound like typical valve train clatter

It's a Harley. That ALL make noise. If you want a quiet bike, buy a Honda. It could be the compensator nut, though. If it is coming from that area, then have it checked ASAP before is comes apart. Although, usually when that nut is loose, it makes noise constantly.
ORIGINAL: Viejo...I hear a metalic engine noise before up shifts at about 2500 rpm and up.
My EVO has been making that same noise for the entire 47K miles I've own it, sounds like a little guy is tap dancing inside an empty can...Valve train noise...Normal. Ride it.
Keep in mind that you are straddling the motor on these bikes and what sounds loud in these bikes, in a car you wouldn't hear it at all probably because it would be under the hood.
The motors are by design pretty noisy motors.
