Default Problem = Opportunity

I've had my RB LSR 2-1 on for only half a year, and not only had the black finish completely flaked off where the header meets the tail, but it also started to rust! RB agreed to take it back and replace, but I'm going to have some major downtime in a limited riding season place (Michigan). So......

I figured since I had the exhaust off, I would buck up and do a cam swap myself, and while I was at it, pull the clutch cover and obviously cam cover and have those powder coated. I'm going with the new Woods 555, and will be swapping out my inner bearings and putting in Smiths Adjustable Pushrods. No rush as I won't have the exhaust back for another 3 weeks minimum. So far, I've sent the exhaust back, drained fluids, put the scoot up on the jack, found TDC, and clipped the stock pushers. Tomorrow, I'm pulling the cam and clutch cover to have them powder coated, and may have time to get into the cam chest. I've never done more than change my own fluids, but with much reading and great advice from members on HDF, I'm willing to give this a go. Wish me luck and stand by if I need advice !

Thanks for the encouragement. As I was installing the cam lock tool to remove the cam and crank sprockets last night, something occured to me. Scott at Hillside (great guy and will do my heads/big bore when it's time) recommended I go with a 4* advance, since these cams like 10.4-10.5 comp. I imagine the tooth pattern on the rear sprocket is different than stock. Will my cam lock tool work with the new Andrews 4*, or do I have to get another tool? Thanks for input.

Got my answer. No problem, as it's not the tooth pattern or count that affects the timing, so the 4* advance (rear or crank, I'm going with crank as it's less expensive and still made by andrews) is the same, so the tool works.
