The friendly neighborhood CHP displayed the Reds and Blues yesterday. He stated the D&D with performance baffle was a little loud tell me something I did not already know.

He slapped my hand and said to put a muffle on it. I knew it was just a matter of time so it’s time to consider a few changes and play again.

Currently Running:
103 CI with 10:5:1 Cp pistons, heads are ported and worked, (Intake CFM= 262.5 Exhaust CFM =233.4), 40mm head gasket, Woods TW400-6 .650 lift cam, Wood Lifters, S&S Pushrods, 50mm SE throttle Body, D&D Fat Cat with performance baffle, Power Commander III, and Performance Machine High Flow Air System.

Current Dyno Numbers:
STD smoothing:1
Max power 110.40
Max Tq 116.73

I am considering
Boring to 107, raising the compression level one step up from 10:5:1, using the heads noted above, dropping to a Tman .625 cam, Axing the power commander moving to a TTS, keeping the Fat Cat, only if possible install a Supermeg Supertrapp to quiet it down to street legal noise levels, and new tune.

I do not like the tap tap that the woods produces… “I know I was told”…. as a note * Woods lifters did not eliminate all of the top end noise produced by the Woods’…just a little.

If anyone knows of a better muffler system for California, one that will attached to the Fat Cat Header let me know. I do not want to decrease my numbers, just decrease the loudness, and yet still have great sound

My questions are:
With the new setup, will both the exhaust note and valve train noise be reduced?

How much of a change in numbers either positive or negative may I expect…just an estimate or an educated guess is all I am looking for.

I don't know if I'd re-bore to a 107". Why not just try swapping cams (since you don't like the tap tap), and changing to a Fatcat Louvered Baffle? And yes, I'd definitely re-tune with a TTS over the PCIII.

Will there not be a difference in the numbers between a 103 and 107? For instance, my 103's 110/116 vs a 107's 120/+??

Not that the numbers realley matter on paper. I guess what I am trying to get an idea about is, if I jump to a 107, drop the cam size, and switch baffles, will i gain power, lose power, or maintain my current numbers, and if so how much either way.

When my Softail was a 103", I wanted more power. At the time, I wasn't looking to split cases to go larger. So, I called around to a BUNCH of builders, who all said the same thing- "not worth it." They all said that I'd only gain about 4/4, and it wasn't worth the $$$ spent for the minimal gains.
