attn: 1 screamin eagle...... mate
Love your work with the SERT and other advise, and I remember a post about slip-on's only and download and your bike ran good. I just noticed your comments about "adaptive learning" on an '07 TC96, I assume your are talking about the O2 sensor 'narrowband' adjustments?? What I'm getting at is.... have you ever seen the AFR numbers for just slip-ons and nothing else for an 07 model? I'd love to know what they really are, cause as you know most people (well some anyway), just want slip-ons....(must be gettin' old).... In a recent ozzie mag they recorder around 15.1 after the usual stage 1 mods, and were not happy about that! I think every one would love to see some dyno proof of the numbers with slip-ons only, can you lend any advise.
thank
Graham.
PS : we get the O2 sensors this year in Australia ..... but I'm holding off till the tranny thing is clear., thanks again to you and SH bob for good advice.
I have several friends running H-D Screamin Eagle slip on's (the ones they no longer sell) on their 07's with perfect results.
The results you saw were on a non 02 bike, so they went lean with the additional air flow.
Feel free to drop me a PM if you need to.
I have several friends running the discontinued S/E mufflers (Kerker style removable baffle) most flowing touring slip on with no problems and a/f adjusts. I believe that the one you are referencing is considered the one piece performance muffler and it has 2 freeze plug holes and a small hole in the endcap side. That muffler should not present an issue - i would simply install it and run it. It will be within the range of adjustment.
I won't drag this tread out too much, I recall you said you are getting an '07. The story was in OZ bike i think, I will check that later if need be, anyway they had an '06 (no O2's or active exhaust), and the usual mods incl download, Dyno said 14.7 to 15.0, (pretty bad). The PCIII changed AFR to 13.5 average
and the torque difference at part throttle was amazing. I have not seen much about the active ex. yet. but the point of my original post was to try to get PROOF of the AFR numbers rather than just talk...... because my 06 with just "torque slip-ons" and NO OTHER mods ran great, no backfires or popping,
pretty good colour on plugs so I figured that the AFR must be pretty OK. Having said that I was looking for proof (ie; dyno run), with only this done to once and all confirm whether or not the bike is lean with mufflers ONLY. The magazine gave PROOF of the short-comings of the stage 1 download / mods and I think readers would be greatful for that at least. If only I could afford to run a stock bike on a dyno then change mufflers and do it again, then and only then would we have the definitive AFR answer, rather than just talk. I really believe that at least 50% of riders, and that's a lot, just want to hear the sound and feel confident that their machine is running "right", and are not after the extra horses of other mods. I was writing on "their" behalf. I sure miss my carbie.
cya
Graham.
