Default Pinging ??

Hello- I have a 95 Fatboy and was wondering about pinging in the front cylinder only! the hotter it gets the louder it gets. Also it seems that at 45 mpg an only at 45 mpg my bikes sounds like the pistons are sloppy. I have taken good care of it and the Harley dealer said it is nothing! I plan on taking to a small bike shop I know of.

Could be a carbon build up in there, Try removing the air cleaner and take a squirt bottle of water. Bring the idle up to around 2500-3000 and spray a straight stream of water in the intake. Don't be afraid to put some water in there, just keep it fed evenly and the RPM's up, no big gulps of water. Keep the RPM's up and the water flowing until you use an ounce or two of water. Park it so the pipes face a wall and see if you stain the wall with carbon. It may sound crazy, but it works!
You can also drop to a colder set of plugs which eliminated ping too.

Barring any mechanical problems, this may net you some results

Did you do a compression test on both cylinders?

RJ,

How many miles do you have on your fatboy and what type of gas are you burning? I only use 92 and above octane with no methane. TCSCD gave you some good advice too.
