Default FNG needs info

Hello all,
Call me the F)@$!& new guy and happy to join this forum. I recently bought a brand used 2010 Fat Boy Lo from a dealer. The bike already had some modifications done so I got a good deal (I hope.) The bike has Screaming Eagle Street Performance mufflers with shields, but I dont like the sound of it ( a little t quiet.) Its my first Harley and all I remember as a kid growing up wanting one, Harleys were always loud with that mean bada$$ get out of the way sound. Question is, can I make the exhaust system I already have get that mean sound or do I have to purchase another set maybe a vance & hines or something? Please help this FNG out!!

you will have to purchase another exhaust -- listen to what other people have and what if any motor upgrades they have -- not hard to get the sound you want--you can sell what you have either here, ebay and/or craigslist.

Aight cool. Probably not what I wanted to do but I guess it's an investment into something that I want. Thanks.

Welcome to HDF and Yups, pretty much any changes you wish to see are going to require additional parts to make it that way. I recommend perusing the links and asking more questions here to get ideas and answers before investing your hard earned cash.
Oh, and if you have fuel injection you will not be able to get your idle low enough to get that all to familiar potato potato sound. I know you didn't want to hear that, but thought it best to get that out on the table right up front. Can you say even more money, as they do make carbs and intakes to change that. Lol

aka Bob

ps. You might could just remove the slip-on mufflers and try running just the strait exhaust.
It might not have a finished look to them, but should wake the dead. :-)
