SE/Jims 120 need input
I am considering a SE/Jims 120 for my 99 eglide. anyone have any input into the reliablity or the rideablity of this engine in everyday riding. what sort of starter and clutch would i have to have to run this engine ? I have a 95" motor now with SB Charlie heads, tw37 cams and flat tops. Running rush exhaust in a Eglide. My gf and I put a load on this bike at +/-400 lbs + gear. would like more rideable power. thanks for any input
some earlier Jims 120's had some issues -- the new ones have addressed the issues Jims have a 1 year warranty
I have seen one person with the Jims 120 and a couple with the 131 -- the 131 may not suitable for what you want to use it for due the vibration and heat
I have at least 5/7 friends with S&S motors -- they dog the hell out of them not one problem -- one has the G2 S&S motor they insanely fast and streetable but it cost 11k
for the price of the jims 120 you can get a S&S 124 (2 year warranty) or S&S 111 (three year warranty) both motors have electric compression releases -- the stock starter should hold up
I like the rivera clutch but you can get an AIM product, Barnett (which I have and not to fond of due to the heavy pull)
The S&S motors have proven reliabity and are suited for a bagger
I'm sure somebody smarter than me will chime in -- none are cheap you have to get what you are comfortable with

Pull the .640 S&S cam(late power) and install a Wood 408.
That'd do it, and then some.
