Default Need some pipe and cam advice

Hi guys,

Am brand new to this form but already see there is a ton of info. Been riding harleys since the early 70's, so I'm not completely stupid about them but not a pro!
I have an 01 carb Rd Kg and 08 Streetglide, and recently built both of them. Street glide to 103 CP flat tops, Heads by Atwood Performance, andrews 54, SERT, Rinehart 2 into 1. Ended up at 10:1 static, 9.2:1 corrected. 185 cold cranking, 106Hp and 111Tq with nice flat curve. No barn burner but pretty nice ride.
Took the 01 Rd King to 95 wiseco flat tops, Heads Atwood Performance, Mikuni 42, Dyna 2000,Andrews 26, SE old style slip ons, 9.65:1 static, 9.06:1 corrected @ 181 PSI Cold cranking. Hasn't been on dyno yet

The questions are: The The Rd King from a roll on will run right with the Street glide into 3rd gear but seems to run out. I had left the 26 cam in because I aready had it in there and liked it's responsiveness. I plan to install a gear drive so am thinking about a 37 cam to replace the 26 to move the power up a bit. Any advice on this change ?

Also plan to go to a 2 into 1 exhaust. Am entertaining V&H Pro Pipe, D&D Fat Cat, Bassani Road Rage. Any advise on this?
I used the Rinehart on the Streetglide simply because I got a good deal on it. I read it is not much of a performer, but the Street glide runs pretty well, looks and sounds good. I might be leaving a little on the table with underperforming Rinehart? Any advice on that piece?

Thanks for any help

If you make a move on that 37 you'll need to bump the cr to 9.8-10.0, or install a Wood 6, and set it at 10.3.
That'll change things!!

Thanks scott

I was afraid of that. Iguess the only way to do that is pull the heads and mill for the up'd compression? Already have the .030 MLS? Just hated to pull the heads back off.
What do you think will happen to the performance if I leave at 9.65 and install the 37?

You can expect the 37 to perform similarly to the 54; the 54 is a high lift version of the 37; peformance will be softer; the curve won't be as tall, as long or as flat as the 54. The 37 is capable of delivering 100/100 numbers and a nice curve but it does like compression as Scott has pointed out.

i would certainly look at the thunderheader 2 into 1. the performance of these pipes is incredible especially in the 2-1 setup.

I have the 37 and the Pro-Pipe on my Dyna - running the SE 9.6:1 forged pistons. Nice performance but I would think not sufficiently different from where you are currently - moves the curve to the right and is a well behaved cam but something like a Woods 555 and a Thunderheader might give a bit more still. Looks like you'll be raising the compression as a part of this exercise.

Thanks everyone for input. Once I decide and make the move, I'll let you know how it comes out.

That cam can roll those numbers, as Doc just showed 106/111, with one of our 98"/Stage II Head/37 cam build, set at 9.8 cr.

For gears your crank runout should be .003 or less, preferably .002 or less. If you're not in spec, then go hydraulic. Well set up gears are not that noisy. I had gears in my 04 and actually enjoyed the slight whir they made. Measuring backlash and using over/under gears if necessary keep the noise down as well.
