Once again, the phrase "You get what you pay for" applies. Some shops will offer street ports, which is basically a valve job. You'll have no idea what the heads flowed, either prior to, or after the port job. You might get good results, crappy results, or something in between.
Most shops can turn around your heads in a couple of weeks, not counting shipping, and barring unforeseen circumstances.
You want good good heads, with the correct size valves, that can support .600+ lift, and will flow numbers that compliment your cam/build? Then save some money over the spring/summer/fall months. And during the winter, send them off to get done. Best advise I can offer.

My 09 heads also measured out at 84cc. Maybe nice valve clean-up, mild intake porting and equalizing cc'ing is all one needs on newer heads? I would think most mild 95/103" builds probably wouldn't need much more than this?

I have to agree, considering what I've read so far from the OP.

Mild cam, just adding displacement, was content with how it ran before, etc.

Mild port and then getting the chamber volume right should be plenty for him. Likely half the price of his original quote and good chance he wouldn't see the difference (from the premium port) unless he was going with a radical cam.

I'm thinking 82-83 cc chamber volume (they wouldn't have to shave much) with the .030 cometics should work well with that cam.

If I was going thru all the trouble of adding the 95" jugs and pistons, it would pain me to put stock heads back on. Even using those stock 08 heads should benefit him, but his compression would be a tad low (not by much). Add the minimal cost of shaving them and he might as well have his own reworked.

$350 dollars plus shipping should be doable. (Mild port, stock valves and cc'd). Unless the prices have gone up in the last few years.

Call WFO Larry, see what he has to say.
