Dual Runner Intake

Dual Runner Intake
Kind of hijacked forum member cycler's thread where he asked about putting a S&S dual runner intake on a 58mm throttle body ...
It got me to thinking ...
I had not paid much attention to the old (pre-'02) EFI and had not realized until about 6 months ago that the pre-Delphi, Magnetti Marelli EFI setup utilized dual runner integral throttlebody/manifold ....
It appears from S&S Cycle's website that they don't currently offer the full dual runner intake/manifold system they used to ... and I had been unaware that there were other offerings in the market place until I stumbled across the BC Gerolamy website ....
They offer dual runner manifold systems for both MM and Delphi EFI systems ....
So ... for the experts, builders, and assorted hoi polloi out there on the forum who happen to see this thread ... what are the benefits, drawbacks and other considerations ....
I always just assumed that the system would be preferable ... superior (based on knowledge of old hot rod tunnel ram induction systems, etc.) ... but, not much factory or aftermarket support ....
Thanks in advance for the schooling ....
