just did a cam change and while getting everything together the lifter retaining clip fell off and the lifters slipped out of its bore, not sure if I reinstalled the lifter with the oil hole facing in and like a smacked a$$ I didn't check the manual for the proper installation procedure. I have everything back together and took in out for a little spin (flashed a fuel-moto map) bike seemed to be running really good. no major valve train noise ….i knwon I have a 50/50 chance that I got it right..but I'm not sure and that’s what bugging me.
My question is do I need to go back in and verify ? if so how hard is it to go back in through the valve covers? I did use adjustable push rods ,however I may have put just a little too much lock tight on the end caps
Just went through the same exercise and as someone here pointed out to me, it doesn't matter. there is a recess around the lifter if you recall and oil will flow around it and fill either way.. The manual says hole in, when I took mine out they were hole out from the factory. You don't need to sweat it...
