Default 95" Build

I am considering a 95" build on a '04 FXDWGI, with flat top pistons, 37G cams and Big Boyz Street ported heads. I am looking for lower end torque. I hardly ever get to 5800 RPM, but would like quicker "around town" performance. Any comments or suggestions, would be appreciated.

For low end torque I am going with the 26g's instead of 37g. Shoot a PM to Philm. He had 37g's and is selling them in the parts for sale section of the forum. He took them out and went with the 26g's. I also plan on doing a 95 build next year and will be going with the SE flattop 1550's

37's are great cams! I had them in my RG using BigBoyz heads & 95" jugs (bored @ BigBoyz), setup for 9.7:1 CR. Talk to Bean @ BigBoyz, he'll help ya get a config that works well for ya!

My Dyno graph is attached to my add for 37G cams in the "For Sale" section of this forum. Check it out!

My build is a lot like the one you plan but I have Short Block Charlie head work. Be sure to get compression optimized for the cam you choose. For light bikes like Dynas I believe the 37G is THE cam! If you have a bunch of weight on your bike and always ride 2 up you might like the 26 or even 31 better.....

Depending on your riding style both cam ares good. Being that we port in the area of 400+ sets of heads a year we see many many set ups. For a comp range of 9.5 the 26 will work well with good ported head look to see mid 80's for hp and low 90's for tq. Now the 37 in 9.7-9.8 range will make a bit better peak numbers but the peak numbers are not as important as the lower rpm range for the normal rider. Look in the 2000-3500 range and compare you will see the 26 will be a bit more perky in that range. Now if the bike is light the 37 works ok but go to a heavy bike two up riding/touring the 26 is a better bet .

Rate of acceleration is key here. Lets say they both make 90hp and 90 tq but one cam begins building tq at a earlier point. Which bike will accelerate faster?? The bike that can build tq faster

9 out of 10 times a bike that makes the tq at a lower rpm range will feel better for the every day rider and as well having a more usable tq range. Even when we build the 114 kits , that we set up the bagger's.... the 114 is completely different from a dyna of softail. Peak number wise they are very close but a heavy bike has vastly different needs than a like bike. Just because one guy loves a certain cam, does not mean that is a " perfect cam" there is a donkey cart full of other variables that can play for ....or against you in a complete package.

My .02 worth

have a great night
