My first plan was a very basic build, 95", SE flat top pistons, Andrews 26G and .030 gasket. Now I am thinking about 95", 10:0 compression, Woods TW6G, and a mild street port job on the heads. The difference in builds is about $800.00, will the results of the 2nd build justify the xtra cost. Bike is an injected Heritage Classic, Stage 1(SE shotgun exhaust and K&N AC). Not concerned with big HP or high RPM preformance, looking for torque early and thru mid range. Any opinions??
Have never delt with Woods cams (although they are good from what I hear) but can tell you that the head work will be well worth it. The 10:1 will just help hold up your bottom rpm even more. This summer I took a set of 204's out of a partners 95inch and put in a set of 26 chains with ported heads. The grin factor was instant and the dyno proved it. Just be sure to use a porter you trust and has a good rep. By the way this bike was a Heritage carbed.
I built my 07 Ultra to 103using the following
SE pistons bought at sale price Local Hd dealer 109.00
Sent out jugs and heads to Bigboyz for boring , porting, surfacing, ccing, 624.00 shipping and head gasketsincluded
Woods 7H cams from GMR 359.00
timken inner cam bearings 12.00
SE springs and retainers 100 bucks, (caught dealer on a good day)
Miscelllaneous gaskets 75 bucks?
retained stock pushrods
10 to1 compression low 190's ccp.
If your build does indeed come to 800 dollars more, that's not much more than the price of a good pipe. You could save some bucks by going with Andrews 37 cams at 9.6 to 1 with a Good street port (BigBoyz) and SE cast flat tops, this combo makes very good toruque and retains excellent reliability.
Well, my friend your going to get bitten by the power bug, no matter what!
Fact is, if you heads are ported properly and the right cam and compresion are combined you will have a bike that will pull like an elephant down low starting around 2200 rpmand rev hard to 5500 to 6k. this is the beauty of the T/C engine!
A 10 to 1 engine is where id start, and if you do your heads get hi lift cams with around 240 deg. intake duration and valve springs to match, it will run like a scalded rabbit! and have a very broad power band.
Don't count out Head-Quarters You might want to give then a shout. I'm glad I did. Even though the others are very good to. But I'm sold on HQ..........................
I struggled with my build decision for several months, finally decided on a build very much like your second choice. Hillside will be doing my build using the Woods 6G late in September, I'll post dyno results when I have them.

Last winter I swapped out my S&S 510G'sfor the HQ-0039G's I already had the 95" 10.5:1 Wiseco with Basiely Heads. The HQ cams made A Big Big seat of the pants inprovement. If I was to send the heads off again I'd send them to Doug at Head-Quarters. InfactI have a pair of stock TC heads just sitting in the garage ready for Doug to do his magic. If I didn't have another Kid in the oven I'd be sending them to Doug tomorrow.

starts at 2200 rpm and pulls until I *****en out of the throttle!
