Exclamation Baffle removal vs Slip ons?

Hello all, new to the forum and new to the harley world so any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Just bought an 01 Sportster Custom 883 and it sounds nicely loud. I asked the owner before buying what pipes were on it and he responded "I honestly do not know, I bought it like that and enjoyed the sound so never thought to ask." My worries are that the baffles were taken out - Im going to look tomorrow.

All in all, how bad is it for my bike to not have the baffles in? I'd hate to cause damage that could be solved with the right slip ons for the right sound.

Lastly, if slip ons are the answer - I would love some advice as to which to buy I'm looking for a loud deep sound that wont give me a headache after an hour of riding but also be loud enough to let people know I'm comin'

THANKS!
