why does it idle so fast?

My wifes 04 carbed Softail 88 runs fine most of the time but when she stops after a ride it idles at about 1500RPM. If it slowed after a few moments it wouldn't bother us but it goes on for a long time. Anybody got any opinions please??

Did you set idle without having the motor at operating temperature?

And check grips and cables for proper operation. --Sticking?
