Could you please explain the problem locating the support plate to the lower rocker box? I'm getting ready to do this, and I don't understand why the four bolts don't mount everything up correctly.

Some have suggested using the tapered locating bolts that are commonly used for aligning the oil pump. If you can, could you also explain how this would work, as well?

Thanks

The stock bolts into the 4 holes let you actually move the support plate around a little bit.
People, if they use this movement, push the plate toward the pushrod side.

I went to a industrial bolt a nut supplyer, Fasinol I think, and picked up 8, grade 9, bolts and hardned washers, that were about 1/2 inch longer than stock. (At least 1/4 I cannot remember exactly)

Bottomed tapped the head holes. Cleaned out the holes completely. Checked top clearance on covers. Installed normally.

These Grade 9, socket bolts, are a little bigger around and there is no movement at all possible in the support plate holes. Like a rock.

Got the idea from the grade 9 bolts from the SE Forged Plate Kit that uses two of them on the spring side, but just a little longer.
I figured whats up here?? Stock not good enough? I'll fix that.

Whow a 5 year old thing here.
