Engine light coming on intermittently
I have a 2000 RK, carbed. I thought I had a historical code because the engine light was coming on as usual, going off for what I thought was four seconds, and then coming back on for what I thought was a few seconds.
Now the engine light goes on and off intermittently during a ride. Just seems kinda random. Sometimes when the light comes on, there's a half second loss of power, but nothing real obvious.
My service manual, to my understand, is saying that this has to do with camshaft alignment (something beyond my skill). It seems like this is something that would keep the light on all the time.
When I get home I will check the battery connections, as it seems like these could be loose. BTW, battery is new and connected to a tender.
Anything else I could do myself? Is intermittency in the light suggestive of anything?

Does the 2000 R/K have a cam position sensor? If so it may be bad and out of sink with the crank position sensor.
I believe there are after market ignitions that eliminate the cam position sensor.
