Default Making a basic tool kit... What tools?

What basic tools would you all suggest for keeping in my saddle bag? I'm throwing together a small kit with the basic wrenches, screwdrivers, etc in the event of a minor roadside dilemma.

My question is: What wrench/socket sizes are most common on a H-D? Also in particular what size Torx bits do I want to have with me? I think there's about 3 or 4 sizes thisbike probably uses but I'd like to know what those sizes are (Electra Glide in particular).

Are there any special/unusual tools I might want to have?

So far the obvious things to me seem to be...

-combination wrenches from 1/4" up to what... maybe 3/4"?

-3/8" ratchet with a few extentions & swiveland the above sized sockets

-a screwdriver with multiple tips flat n phillips

-pliers

-Torx bits (What sizes do I need?)

-hex wrenches (What sizes do I need?)

-a quart of oil and funnel

-a couple rags

-duct tape/electrical tape

Any other suggestions?

Thanks to you all!

I just bought one of these. I figure if I bought all the tools in the kit separatly, it would have cost me more. Probably not the Snap-on or Craftsman quality, but good enough. Seems to me to be worth the $69.00. I have NEVER used it on my bike, but I have gotten two buddies home for having it.

Its the same price as a HD tool kit, but you get a lot more "stuff".

If you insist on putting yor own together, it seems to me the T27 torx is pretty much on everything.

Thrillseeker is right, buy the Windzone tool set, with some coaxing,it will fit inside the Harley toolbox.A good roadside motor club membership, with a 100 mile towing is a great idea.

I've got AAA towing with the m/c package and believe me I've used it a few times in the past on my 1100 V-Star - once for a flat tire at rush hour (they got there within 20 minutes on a Friday at 5:00PM so an applause for AAA is in order there!) andonce when my shifter quit working andI was stuck in 2nd gear. The first tow was maybe 20 milesand the second tow was 65 miles and BOTH were NO CHARGE and I got excellent and prompt service!

I ride ALOT of miles - around 30,000 a year - so a AAA card is always in my wallet!

Thanks for the tips, I try to be prepared best I can for reasonable glitches that may occur along the trail.

I store mine in a fork bag, mounted down below on the frame (by the front motor mount). it fits those bags perfect.

I wish I could fit my Snap On box in my bag, you never can have enough, but that's not practical so just the basics, I went on ebay and saw what cruz tools includes, most of the things I had doubles of, so I made my own kit for minor break downs. A cell phone and roadside assist. helps too.
