While taking the needle jet holder out of the wifes 06 883L Sportster the needle jet holder fell out before I could see which way it was sitting in there. Which end goes back into the carb first???
Unflanged end
Flanged end
Have the manual but I couldnt tell from the parts diagram.
Your picture is of the needle jet itself. If you laid the jet on it's side, you'd see that the rib around the outside is closer to one end than the other. The "long" end goes in first. When you put the needle jet in and screw the emulsion tube in, the end of the needle jet should be sticking up into the throat of the carburetor.

Bubba, I put one back in upside down once and the bike really, really did not run well at all.
