After stop and go mostly stopped traffic on very hot day in Ga. i could hear my rear cylinder cut in and out (2012 RG) finally got out of the jam and on to an interstate .
Noticeable loss of power and could hear banging noise from engine , no where to pull off highway and i was scared there was major damage to engine , this was not pinging noise . Drove mile or two and noise slowly went away . Rode home to NY (1000) miles and went to dealer where bike was purchased before going home . At this time i had 4k miles on bike . As ther was no noise for the tech to hear he guessed it might have been a hung up intake valve. Has not happened since that one time
Now i want dealer to put what happended on my service record so i will be covered that this started while bike was still under warrenty . They don't want to put it on my service record saying that they never heard any noise
What should and what can i do
Thanks Jackson F.D.N.Y. retired from 9/11
what the hell is a "hung up intake valve"?? for years ive heard mis-informed folks talk about "hung up" or "sticking valves".once a valve sticks, its stuck and the only thing that will free it is the piston hitting it,and even if the spring free`s it,& only sticks for a split second, damage is done (either scoared guide/valve or bent valve)and should be addressed

I agree, damage was done. May be minor and bike may never have an issue again but if I had a new bike I would demand they tear it down to find out. At the very least imo, They should have changed fluids and even dropped the oil pan and cleaned it. If there is silver metal flakes in the oil after draining there is a problem. If there are brass looking metal pieces there might be a huge problem. Either way if you really had metal to metal inside the motor those pieces that came off are eating away at the bearings, sometimes even the cases get chewed up. Also could plug oil pump which is self explanatory problem.
