Default 04 Roadking, quick disconnect assembly help!

While I was removing the o-ring, the check valve and spring fell out. Could someone please tell me how to, and in what order, to put it back together.
If it didn't fall out, and I removed it, I would know how.

PS, I got the o-ring from Harley, part # 11273. I also got another part number from a forum member, 11105, they are both the same size, but 11273 is green, for gas.
If harley would have installed one for gas, probably wouldn't be having this problem

Inside the check valve it should be the spring then the o-ring. But if the spring and o-ring came out of the check valve when you were replacing the outer o-ring then I would certainly consider replacing the whole piece. If you do try and reassemble it to use again you should keep an eye on it as it will likely give you issues down the road as it should not just come apart. When you are talking about a fuel connector that sits above the engine you certainly do not want to put yourself in a situation where you have a possible leak.

Your saying the spring goes on top? What I am really wondering, is how to assemble it. Does the check valve have the spring facing down, o-ring in first?

Does anyone have a diagram of the quick disconnect, o-ring, spring, and check valve, either from a parts book, or service manual, that they could copy and email to me?

Spring, check valve needle then o-ring. The needle should have a extension at the tip that is pressed on by the fuel line to open the valve.

Thanks AJ, you helped me before. I think I am f---ed. when the check valve and spring fell out, didn't notice a needle, only two parts, valve and spring. I doubt that if the needle will be found. I am an ole rider, (71)and haven't really worked on Harleys, since I owned a couple of early 60's Sporty's. Had to work on them weekly. Looks like I will have to buy a new quick release. Next question, how do I disconnect that, from the main fitting that is screwed into the tank. I am getting frustrated.

If you have two parts, a spring and check valve as you called it; you have all the parts.

I confused you by calling it a needle. As in needle and seat like you would find in a carburetor.

Install the spring then install the little metal piece with the taper toward the o-ring, then install the o-ring.
