I like the sound of the open end cap on this 21 pipe... Are there any issues running the open end cap? Is there still enough back pressure? Can you still get good tune and performance out of the pipe with the open end cap?
Thanks for any advice.
My bike is a 2013 stage 1 96" dyna.
I have a Supermeg on my ole lady with the closed end cap, plus all the spacers. Gives excellent torque and seems fine in the noise department to me! Have you actually heard one running?

No, haven't heard one in person, just the youtube clips. I'm pretty sure that he closed end cap is too quiet for my tastes, but the open end cap sounds sweet. Pity it's no good from a performance perspective.
Yes, there is a trade off... But it's not that much on my motor, and it sounds much better to me with the open end cap.
On a dyna, the super trap 2 into 1 may be the best pipe, as it's size lends itself well... Short enough to not stick out the back ( and hit curbs when parking), fits under saddle bags... Etc...
So, you can always give up some power for sound, then increase power. :^)

Unless you have a set of hif-fi speakers on your 'puter youtube isn't going to give a very good idea of what any exhaust sounds like when standing beside it!
we just finished a 98" build on a `05 springer.we installed a supermeg and used the open cap, sounds great & runs strong, will post results when it gets broken in & dyno`ed.when we had our dyno up in indiana,we noticed the open cap gave more peak power (alittle less TQ though)
I have tuned a lot of the Trapp pipes and I see no reason you couldn't run it with the open cap and a smaller number of discs, I would start at 10-12 and see how that works, I like the sound of the open cap and less discs over all discs. Stating that almost any other pipe is better than the trapp is simply not true, this pipe can be tuned for anything from your stage 1 96 up to a 120r with great results. Here is a sheet from a 120r build with T-man 662-1's and 15 discs open end cap. You can actually still hear the radio as well.
