Default adding performance... air filter vs no filter

So is there a really advantage on running an air filter vs not running an air filter AT ALL to aad performance to a motorcicle? or is it just to filter particles that could go in to the carb?

If there isn't, how about just running this screen?

The premature need for an engine overhaul outwieghs any hp gains I would consider.

The main advantage would be for the folks who will sell you new engine parts.

Free flowing air filters can also straighten out the air going into the engine (less turbulance). So it is possible for an air filter to give better performance numbers than no filter. Obviously it depends on application, engine, placement of carb or throttle body, etc.

We suggest running the largest air filter that still allows comfortable leg room.
