Default another 'white smoke' question

Got my FM 107" put together, with the level B ported heads.. She fired up, first try, sounds good.. Woods cams seem to make a bit of noise.. let her warm up (just sitting at idle), let it idle for 5-10 minutes, then shut it off and started doing my once-over for leaks and such. Let her cool back down for 30 minutes or so (which is more than enough time since it's cold as heck here). Then fired her back up, let her heat back up..

Now I'm noticing that some white smoke is coming from the heads, not from the intake ports, or the exhaust ports, but from just all over the heads.. Could someone just reassure me that this may just be some oils and stuff used in the CNC process that's burning off?

maybe.. it doesn't smell bad at all.. not like oil should smell.. and it doesn't smell like plastic or electrical, and I checked all my wiring and nothing is touching the engine, and nothing is burning there.. it just smells.. "Clean".. if that makes sense, like it's almost a sweet smell (sweet for people who love mechanical stuff and cleaners and whatnot)

Just ride the thing, break her in and I bet it goes away

Yeah that's all I'm going to do. It was my first time every ripping an engine apart and rebuilding it so naturally i'm a little anxious.. half expecting a piston to come shooting up through my cojones or something. If that happens, oh well, guess I'll have to build a bigger one then.

Too true! First time you do something it seems like anything different, albeit could be completely normal, is suspect.
I bet you're fine, and if you're not, you've got a great plan my friend.
I just installed my first set of cams on a HD and the different sounds it makes had me putting my ear so close to so many different components I'm lucky I didn't burn myself in the process. At this point I'm convinced the actual valvetrain is quieter than it used to be but you can hear a difference in the sounds coming from a Stage 1 A/C due to different timing and an overall more aggressive cam.
I would equate your experience with your new engine to walking point. Pay attention to everything. You may run yourself ragged and stress yourself out but all that's well will be well and all that's wrong, well, you'll notice it whereas if you just let it ride you might step into something you weren't looking for when you should have been paying better attention.
Good luck and congrats on your first build. (this opinion has been made by someone who has more experience walking point than building motors, FWIW)
