You throw out this 100 hp number. Why? What do you see 100 hp doing for you? 100+ hp is great, provided you are willing to rap your motor out far enough to get there. How much torque you get, how early, and how long it hangs in there matters more. 100+ ft lbs of torque at 2200 rpm that climbs to 110 ft lbs and stays above 100 to 5000 rpm when your 100 hp catches up, will bring on the smiles way quicker than 100 hp at 5250 with a torque curve that waits to peak till 3000 rpm. The 255's don't build bragging rights hp. What they do do is build a lot of torque fast and mine stays above 100 ft lbs till about 4350 rpm. When I built my motor, there was no such things as Woods 222's or 555's or 777's or Feuling 543's or Red Shift 527's. Money was tight. I went with the 103" stage 2 with the SE 255's. I can be out on the highway, two up, at 80 mph at 3000 rpm, twist the wick and it leaves. It doesn't just sit there and get louder, it leaves. Having said all that, I could do better. Scott at Hillside suggests the S&S 570's set up right as being perhaps as well rounded a set up as a person could want. I wish I had a set of Stage 3 heads from Hillside, with S&S 570 cams and compression set at 10.2 to 1. With that short list of parts and your exhaust and A/C tuned right.......well.....you would not be asking what to do next because you would already have done it. It would seem that since you ride what you ride, two up is not a big consideration. Imagine yourself cruising along about 75 mph and you come up on a traffic situation that requires some distance between you and some dipshit that means to do you harm because he/she can't see you because their head is firmly up their ***. Drop to 5th and you leave in a freakin' hurry. Hit 6th at 100 mph and the situation is over in less time than it took Buffy or Biff to look up from the text keyboard. Say hello to Mr. S&S 570. Your welcome.

It seems the 259 cam is a bit stronger. the Mecanic at a local place said it ran pretty strong in a few 103's he has done over the winter.

Just installled a set of 204s in a stock 103, didn't break the 100hp mark but made well over 100 tq, some things to consider .

The 255 is low to mid-range torque cam; torque off idle to about 4500 and, in a 103 will peak above 100 but HP will peak mid 80s. The 259 will not deliver torque as early as the 255 but will deliver the torque out past 4500; haven't run one so I can't really comment on what peak TQ/HP will be or what the curve will look like but I can say with some authority that it won't pull like the 255. Cam choice will depend on where you want the torque.

Agreed, the guy said it was a hot cam but also said it went like a scalded cat......I would rather have thye TQ in usable levewl like my 26H, 255 or 48H...

If ya are just doing stage 1 and cams I'd recommend Andrews 57s. 255s aren't gonna do much more than 105 tq and 85hp on the happiest dyno out there. 57s will easily do a real 105tq and 95 hp. If ya want more than 100hp ya should be looking at headwork too.
