Default What to do? Re Cams

Just bought a 2013 RG Custom...... I was going with the SE255, along with heavy breather, V&H Power duals w/ High output Slip ons...... My friend (HD master mech) says 90+ TQ and maybe 80 HP...... I want closer to 100 HP...and still be reliable for a 500 mile day....what to do???

What do you have a 96 or 103? If all your friend says is getting 80 HP I would take it elsewhere!!!!!!!

I would be more concerned about TQ than HP on a touring bike -

I sure do not know what your friend is saying but you should not have a problem getting a 100HP out of it with the right cam and the other things you are talking about.

you are giving up a few horses with the dual exhausts. what type of tuner were you going to use? why not talk to fuelmoto and look at their cams, intake and exhaust, plus which ever tuner they would recommend. they have dyno numbers for various combos on their web site. i would think you could get close to 90 horsepower and a little more torque without much problem.

Well....i'm very green on the subject.....I blow the money on my toys, and normally go with the suggestion of my dealer. My 2010 SG had the 251 cam, and I cand remember what else.....they put the SE heads on, and I had the crappy manual compresion release buttons. I was getting close to 100 & 100....strong bottom.
I'm assuming my dealer wont order woods? If theres a way, I'm looking for about the same numbers or better, but without head work, or compression release things......I'm guessing i'm dreaming? I would like stronger mid this time....I think....lol.....Heck, told ya I was green. What about the 555's? But is there a lot more work involved?

You already have electric releases in your heads.
A set of Wood 222's will not step you into the 100 hp zone, but it'll drive the torque waaaaaaay up, right where you can use it, for a touring machine.
IF, you installed a .030" Cometic head gasket, you'd be at 10.0 cr, and at that compression, you are sitting perfect for the use of a set of S&S .570's.
We do not know of a 10.0 cr cam out there, that'll stand toe to toe with the .570's, as far as overall broad power.
They won't "strike" as hard as the 222's, but you may very well see at/near 100 hp.
BTW, we have all needed, to facilitate the easy install of both of those cams.

I'd start looking elsewhere for advice. Check out the suggestion from hillside!

I recently put the SE 255 cams in my 2010 Limited (already had stage1). I was looking for more torque and was not overly concerned with the HP number. Used SE Pro Super Tuner and turned out to be 89hp/101Tq. The Bike runs great now. Really woke up that 103 ! I'm satisfied.

Good luck !
