I have a 07 FLSTC with Vance & Hines Big Shot longs, Big Sucker, PC111. The question I have is I would like to remove my baffles and run my pipes without them due to them sounding much better but I was told by H-D shop that by removing my baffles it could harm my engine due to it not holding enough back pressure on the engine. Has anyone else face this problem or is this true harming my engine without baffles? has anyone else run without baffles and did it damage your engine?
I dont think it will hurt your engine, it may lean it out a little, but you will loose a lot of low and mid torque and power if you remove them. The bafflesplay a big role in how the exaust system performs.
Hey thanks guys!! I will be leaving them in because if it's not broke don't fix it. Well mine is running great just like it is. Thanks for your in put.
Yeah hey I run the Bigshot staggered. I took the baffles out, sounded awesome though still had some minor popping on the decel. Also heard that about the damage to the engine, found out it it mostly a myth. Can eventually hurt it in the very long future, but nothing to worry about there. Also yes you do lose some considerable torque without them. I heard a lot of good things about the Thunder Monster Baffles, gives you the power back and keeps that low rumbling loud sound. I just ordered a set. Hope this helps some.
I went riding with a guy the other day who had your same pipes on his Duece. He put power cones in the head pipes and removed his baffles. It is the baddest sounding bike I've heard.
Hey Masticman, thanks for that info. you say your friend is running the vance & hines big shot longs and he put the power cones on his pipes and they sound great. I don't think I have seen or heard of them.Do youknow where hegot his?
I've seen them in the J&P catalog. I personally don't have any experience with them but his bike sounded really good. If I run into him again I will get more info. I have afriend with a Road King who hollowed out his stockers and it sounds pretty cool. It has a very low hollow sound.
