I considered modifications to my 96 for a while. Read a lot and there sure is a lot of opinions and info out there. I wanted to get the most power for my dollar like everyone else but knew no one building these motors.
I came across Vee Twin Performance in DeLand and ended up taking it to Kirby who did the 107" kit, heads, cams and lifters. Great price, great work. Kirby put me in touch with Doc out in Clermont to tune it.. Doc installed the TTS and 4.9 Injectors. Great work again.I am super pleased with the results. Both guys great to deal with. It spun 110hp &124 TQ and feels like the front tire is coming up. ( it may be).I had the SE HD clutch spring installed on the stock clutch but Doc pointed out it was slipping on the dyno so the bike got a performance clutch installed at his shop. Everything turned out great, the valvetrain is quieter than when the bike was new!
First you have to figure what you want out of the motor? Low end torque, top end speed and so on. I have seen many build a motor only to find out it was not much good for the way they drive. Keep in mind what RPM you normally ride at.
