If you put onfreer flowing intake and pipes, you most likely will need to re-jet. When you get a chance to ride it, if you get a lot of popping on decel and some carb farts while running, you will know your are too lean. Study up on reading the spark plugs in your manual too. That will give you good feedback on whether you are too lean or not.

The purpose of the carb jets is to meter the fuel to obtain the "perfect" 14.7:1 air:fuel ratio. Yeah, yeah, I know that you alreadyknow that. But think about what that means for the engine (any engine). The carb is set up to flow a specific amount of fuel to match the specific amount of air as designed by the factory engineers.

If you make changes that improve air flow, you must also make changes to improve the flow of fuel. A simple concept; but so simple it gets forgotten.

To make more power, you need to burn more fuel.

If the changes don't require you to change jets, you wasted your time and money.

Go to the nightrider site, there's an excellent carb tuning guide.
