I sometimes get hard starts after warm up. I thought I figured out the problem (replaced cracked boot), but its still does it. All that I have done for mods is 39" Samson Cholos.
I did notice that when I lightly tap on the circled area it shoots out gas. Is that causing it to flood on start up and is there an adjustment?

Are you saying you get more gas into your carb when you hit on it, or it leaks out of the bowl? Did you upgrade you exhaust from stock to the cholo's? Did you already have an opened up air filter system. Maybe you're running lean now and need to rejet. Have you checked your plugs?

Yes, gas spits out of the circled part if I tap on it. I rode/fixed quads with similar carbs and this never happened. No leaking at all. I had aftermarket exhaust before these, but they didn't stick out the rear end like these do. Could be back pressure related? Stock a/c. Not running lean. I put a 46 pilot in and it ran like crap. Haven't checked the plugs.

Sorry. I lost track of the thread. Are you still having the problem or have you worked it out. How'd the plugs look? I went thru quite a few problems with my bike, carb wise when I first got it that took me quite a while to figure out.
I was told then if the intake and exhaust aren't both changed then a jet change should not be needed. I however did both which required carb jet changes and the float level was off and seals/gaskets were shot. I also accessed the air idle mixture screw and replaced it with the http://www.cv-performance.com/ez-just-mixture-screw/. With this I can make the adjustment to fine tune the carb. I finally got my carb problems straightened out and running right, but still had a problem.
It still had a slow start problem when hot. This got worse last summer. My bike even cut out on me a couple of times and restarted on it's own while riding down the road. I went over everything electrically, connector, grounds, etc. on the bike. I had already replaced the battery too, due to age and lower voltage readings after charging. I ended up taking that (new) battery back to the vendor that I got it from and he checked it out to find a bad load test! Replaced it and no problems since. Just an idea of something you may want to check also.
