With the break in, It isn't necessary for you to follow it to a "T", you just have to remember, NO lugging, and run it up through the gears vigorously as if you would getting on to a parkway with traffic coming, also DE celerate too so it loads both sides of the rings. Don't baby it and you should be OK

If you're not obviously burning oil, one other thing you might check is around the base of the oil filter at the mount. If you're leaking anything there, there will be an accumulation of oily dirt and crap like I've had on mine. Back to the MoCo filters for me next time around. Also, look at the underside of the engine and check for any greasy accumulations near the drain plugs, oil may be leaking there if the plugs were tightened too much and damaged the small rubber O-rings.
