I started having this very weird engine noise on my 07 Heritage. I have a bad raddle in the front of my engine that I can not find. This raddle only happens when the engine is hot and I open my throttle up real quick under a load it will make a bad raddle which sounds like it is coming from the front top part of my engine andonly last for a splic sec.If I sit still and revel up my engine it will not make this sound. This raddle sounds like a chain being pulled through the top of my engine. other than the weird soundmy bike runs great. I have stage 1, big shots long, pc111.
Has anyone else experience this sound on there 07. If so what was your cure? I'm trying to see if its a sound all 07 makes so I want have to down my bike at the H-D shop for no telling how long.
I have an 05 Ultra and mine just started making a similar noise on the way home from work the other morning. My idle sounds fine, but at about 2000 rpm it sounds like something loose in the upper front head area. At first I thought something was loose (fairing, lowers, etc.) Power still seemed good. Got home and checked things out-nothing loose that I could find. I started up the bike and found it was coming from the engine area. I couldn't exactly pinpoint location. I took (trailered) it into the dealership. I have extended warrantee, but don't want to risk extra damage either. I'm waiting to hear from them. I have a little over 13k miles. I figure -"just great, good warm weather and I have bike trouble." It doesn't sit still too often. We don't get too cold down here, so I can ride quite often even in winter. I wish you the best with yours. I just hope that mine isn't bad news either.
Yes, I always use premium fuel and mine only makes this noise if riding puting it under a load and quickly open my throttle up. That's when I get this chain raddle noise for a splic sec. Bike never misses a lick keeps running fine.
No, I can have my rps up and do the quick gunning my engine and it will still raddle for a splic sec. My friend tried to find this noise and checked for anything loose around the engine or exhaust and found nothing loose.
Sounds like pinging, definately needs to be addressed, as this can cause some really expensive damage if ignored. I'm not a mechanic but it might be caused bya lean condition that could be addressed with a PCIII or even a DFO.
I rode the bike and it only makes then noise for split sec dont sound like pinnings, and it want do it when its cold only hot and you have to be on the bike, it will not do it running it on the table, in gear, has to be under load.
