Default Carburetor choice for my WL

I'm not ready for a carburetor yet, but I will have to decide which way to go soon.
I got two partial Linkert carburetors with my basket case.
I have never been a fan of old, tired carburetors, so I am considering going to a Mikuni setup.
As mentioned before, this is not a 'correct' build.
Thoughts?

the mikuni was a go to for guys looking for trouble free and easy tuning back in the day - it also lets you sell the oem handle bars for around the same cost

while a linkert has been on almost every machine we work on - I can smell when its right -- and every imaginable part is available - and some with very slick up dates so we would never consider the change in the shop today

OK, I'll look at the possibility of refurbishing the Linkert.
I can hardly wait to start and tune an engine that is freshly rebuilt with a carb that I have no experience with!
Other than that........

I did not say you should go linkert - I said in my shop we restore collectables that are numbers matching in some cases extream pieces

if your looking easy tuning and reliable - put a mikuni on it - its a bitsa bike - it what is expected your bringing it back to life on the cheap - and making it dependable

everyone gets that - go for it

Thinking Mikuni.
Looking at what I would need to spend to try bring the Linkert back to life - close to a Mikuni conversion

Updating this old thread.
The Mikuni 'kit' came with an adapter/hose that does not mount/seal well.
The carb actually fell off once.
I crafted a support bracket, but finally caved and have ordered a rebuilt M88

Either carb will need a support. The Linkerts have a little S shaped bracket that goes from the bowl drain plug to the motor case to hold it up. Maybe your Mikuni needs something similar.

Or maybe your bike is telling you it wants a Linkert. Good luck.

If nothing else, the Linkert will be properly mounted, so I can eliminate/limit air leaks
