I've owned and ridden my WLA since 1965 and have recently added a 1947 U outfit to the stable. Recently completely rebuilt the U motor and fitted a repro oil pump in which I had machined the galleries. No oil pressure. Figured that I had machined too much so put the old pump back and had oil pressure again.
Bought another repro pump and put it on with no modifications. No oil pressure. Put the old pump back on and had pressure again.
All the pumps were primed on installation with a set up that feeds them with 20psi on first start up.
The pumps look identical, the gasket is the same, springs and pressure setting the same.
Any theories? I can't work out what is going on.
Cheers,
Richard.
Its not a WW2. Fighter mustang - its a gravity feed wheel barrow - we have always just pack the gearing with automatic transmission assembly grease and just leave the feed line loose at the pump and add oil to the tank till we get the air to purge you will get a drip - drip - drip - then we tighten the fitting
you might be aerating the china copy’s and we all know they cant make a toaster work on both sides of a piece of bread at the same time
