Head bolts life span.
Sometimes the old way isn't the best way because believe it or not we actually do learn things over time. See copied info below. The lube you use is a huge factor. I use ARP lube on threads and the underside of the heads.
It is generally accepted that as much as 50% of the applied torque is expended in overcoming friction between the bolt head and the abutting surface and another 30% to 40% is lost to friction in the threads. As little as 10% of the applied torque results in useful work to tension the bolt.

when the ARP stuff first showed up it was all the rage - now most shops have a knuckle drager pulling wrenches - finesse is a pipe wrench - the casted in sockets in the pan heads were being pulled out - knuckles were 7/16X16 thread and heli coils were not available yet - yet the heads were not expensive like today - we found a happy middle ground - sure been doing it how many 10,000 sets - have a pan head that is cracked from the intake post to the valve seat through the bolt socket you can see it lifted just a bit but that is all it takes - will picture it up and yes something was on the the bolt and thread - dont know what it was but my guess could be
The rat tail file valve job is all the ***** in Hunter Gatherer IS US bike shop - they miss the the class its for bushings to peck the surface

"Should you use WD-40 as a lubricant? While WD-40 does have some lubricating properties, it is not a good lubricant and should not be used for this purpose."
While its wet it make a difference - tried it with out and the bolt can chatter before its torque is achieved - a rice crispy thing snap crackle and pop - and then it evaporates
been do it this way too long with no issues to learn NOW how to wear a dress
