mikuni full throttle

Today I ran with both tank petcocks open and both caps off and almost full tanks. No change. Even put a smaller air jet with no help. If I did not have these big hills to get a run at I would not have a problem.

I am able to go full throttle indefinitely on my 42 with the Mikuni. if you cannot get up to speed I would look at timing and ignition before fuel. These things do not need that much fuel, so if you can get up to speed you have a clog somewhere in your petcock. Pull the fuel line and see how fast it flows. Its possible you just have the bowl filling at idle.

Hey john and weary, cant send pics but float done per mikuni. Just did a flow test. Got 37oz per min. from hose and only 14oz thru carb. Mikunioz says should be 34oz thru carb. Waiting for answer from him about what next. Thanks and keep the good stuff coming guys.

The float valve opening was already talked about ie fuel petcock but the carb is restrictive for some reason

‘did you buy a off brand rebuild kit - mikuni kit is pricy ?????

Got the carb from 45 Restorations and is Mikuni. I just came in from shop and was comparing it to the one I wrecked. Tom from Mikunioz says I need a fuel pump. Thats not going to happen. As Wearyone said his runs great. Got a utv/smowmobile shop up the road so will see if he has an old vm34 that I can work with. If you have anymore ideas please bring on. Anyone else out there???

Is there a reason you can't run the correct carb? The brass linkerts are good carbs.

All the choppers back in the day used the bendix for the most part - they started easier and ran - and now run better when we use the original carb

After beating my head about this I did some math and there is no way that 14 oz gas will go through a 230 main jet in a minute. So back to ignition. New coil (3rd one) no help. New condenser (3rd one). Bingo!! Four mile run and a long hill at full throttle. Great but keeping fingers crossed. Condenser 32726-30a is GM 1932004 or Delco d-204. Points 30605-48a is 1118200. Both MADE IN USA. So if you think you have a carb ..problem think ignition. Rubone says most carb problems are electrical.
