Default Help

Some of you know the I found a motor that I comitted to. It’s a 1941 WLD in from what I understand the only made 442 and 1941. I did some research and found out that the cylinder heads and the cylinders that came with the engine were not correct for a WLD they were the standard WL cylinder, heads and cylinders. So I told the guy I’m not gonna buy it.

It has the cylinders and the heads and the crank and the rods and the pistons and the flywheel and it’s got the side cover and it’s got the oil pumps got a lot of parts and he wants $1500 for it. I’m concerned that it’s gonna cost a lot of money to find heads that are WLD heads and find the cams and find the valves and find all the things that I need to make it a true WLD.

My concern is, I may never find another WLD. There’s a lot of G motors that I can get, there’s a lot of other types of motors, but I’m really excited about the 1941. What are your thoughts? Should I spend the $1500 and get the cases and the flywheel and the rods and go from there and maybe sell the heads and the cylinders?

Please take a look at the below. Is this a true WLD stamping? I may change my mind to go back and get this motor.

Help!

Nevermind. The guy relisted it and it sold immediately.

I’m learning.

Because I’m a novice, I was reluctant to buy this but in hindsight, I probably should have. Part of the learning process I guess. One of my faults is my impulsiveness. I actually just bought 2 NOS pistons, why? Impulse. Anyone need 2 NOS pistons…haha…

I’m taking this up as a learning experience and I’ve committed to myself not to buy anything unless I’m sure. Someone told me to be patient, although not my strength, I am going to try.

I’ll take the money I’ve have for the engine, add to it and go to swap meets. There’s a big one in Maryland where I live in 3 weeks and another one in February.

This is going to be an interesting journey, I hope you guys will put up with me, my stupid questions and my naivety when it comes to building my dream bike.

Steve

The guy was a shiy taking all the real stuff and seeing a chassis’s numbered set of cases that needed the timing hole repaired

buying a antique machine is a thing and when your new at it you will not if get effed for sure

go To an event and see it live but a W or g bike is a 50MPH if your 225 in weight thats down hill

cone shovel is the deal for the money most are blended into - making it my own < jackasses - but that is what is out and around under 10,000 real nice almost original and 5 6 thousand still running needs a dog leash — a shovel will teach you all u need to know about owning a collectible Harley and its riding able

parking it close to a Twinkie is also great as every one is looking at your shovel and the twinkling has a hard on thinking his dog **** they are looking at
