Does a 1944 Flathead 74 cubic inch exist?
Short answer...yes, but not sure of total production numbers. For 1944 MoCo produced the Model 44-UL 74 cu in twin, high compression solo and the Model 44-U 74 cu in twin, medium compression.
According to the Encyclopedia of HD,/Peter Henshaw&Ian Kerr,2006 Regency House Publ./ there were flatheads in 1944:
44U medium compression,4 speed
44UL ,high comp.4speed, both 74 ci
Prices: U-$385, UL $385
Production: U-580, UL- 1366

Here ya go! I just got home from the auction. We were told it was one of 497 civilian models, but I have no idea if that is true.
