Indian went down in 1953...the brand name has been sold, resold, litigated again and again etc etc.
there is no connection to anything resembling the original company or products.
It can be easier to revive a brand name than to come up with an original idea
Many who have any connection to original Indian have no regard for the polaris, north carolina, CMC or the Foreign minibikes which have had indian decals on them
There is a vast difference compared to HD which has had some continuity in ownership, management, engineering, manufacture, sales and continual production since the 1904 model production models
the current owners of the brand name could have elected to call it a polaris or victory and maybe gotten more interest...the "indian" name just means fenders stapled onto a something else.
oops- off topic too.

If not for Porsche infusing capital and the Reagan tariff HD would have followed the same financial trajectory...the market place will choose ..Let the free market work its will..the more free market influence, the better. Competition spurs innovation
I use the app on my phone and never see any ads either. Never use the home computer cause I'm hardly ever there. I agree with you Doc...nothing wrong with competition.

2010 Limited with some stuff
As a lover of all things motorcycle, I've found myself very disappointed. I don't want to go on to a Victory forums to learn about Indians.. It's full of folks that drank the koolaide... The opinions are very biased. Guys that need to justify their choice. You could argue that it's the same here, but that's not necessarily been my experience. I'd bet that the vast majority of us here have owned metric and other brands. So I like real opinions from fellow HD riders. I can usually filter through the fan boys. Hell, there was a bmw k-bike thread not too long ago that was very informative. I figure if it bothers folks, they can always choose to not participate in the the thread.

but it didn't.... the man's point is that Indian is just a polaris with an Indian badge. I would agree. Buying an image rather than earning one is weak.
Indians aren't what I'm into but they're damn fine motorcycles.Polaris deserves way more credit than to trivialize their effort as nothing more than buying the name.An American company putting it's reputation on the line and hitting the ball out of the park is welcome news compared to all the crap going on these days.
