Your user name is a unique identifier for your account and used to index it, thus you cannot change it directly. A work around would be to delete your account and then recreate it with the desired user name.

This is posted in a sticky above on this page:

You can't do it yourself. You have to have an Admin do it for you. Just do a "search" under the "Members" heading on the blue toolbar towards the top of the page and make sure your new choice is not already taken. Then just pm me your choice and I'll take care of it as I have time.
