Popping sound when I rev

Starting up the bike, it sounded like it wanted to die.
so I gave it a little throttle, then i heard a POP, a unusual one, then the bike shut off.
kinda like something shorted out. saw a small cloud of smoke coming from the left side by my air cleaner and it smelld like something did burn.
So don't know what this could be or if a censor did blow.
the bike sid start up after, it's just wierd.
the bike is stage one complete with the FP3 auto tune.
Plz let me know what you guys think it could be.
