I have been using firefox for so long I don't even give it a second thought! I logged into the forum from work the other day, which I have never done because they just gave us full internet access. The work machines run windows and explorer. I can't believe all the crap I am not seeing by using Firefox with the add-ons!
Now I still get the green words, but when I mouse over them the pop up window says, Internet Explorer can not display, ect. Hey I'm kinda happy with that, but any ideas?
I actually have multiple layers of protection on my machine, so it may be a combination of things that solved it in my case. Since you are running Internet Exploder, you can try adding these entries to the "Restricted sites" zone:
*.intellitxt.com
*.vibrantmedia.com
As others have mentoned though, Firefox (or even Google Chrome) is a better solution. GL!
For those that are using IE, and know how to edit your host file,......
I have a list you can add to your host file that will eliminate the green words.
I haven't seen any green words for months now (since I added these).
It's quite a lengthy list, but it covers all the sites that have the annoying green words.
I am not knocking Firefox, it's a good browser, but after trying it for a few months I found that it just wasn't for me. No particular reason, IE just "fits" me better.
Feel free to PM me with an email addy, and I'll shoot you a copy of that list.
You can cut/paste it to your hosts and get some relief.
Run your mouse over a highlighted word to open the ad box.
Click on the question mark in upper right hand corner.
Open the tab that says DISABLE.
Wish I knew about that one before I went thru the host file fiasco.
Wouldn't mind trying it just for grins, but I'd have to reverse my other fix in order to do so. Will try and remember it for later.
MS browsers $uck
Kind of like syn or dino? LOL Matter of preference. I did try Firefox and did "kind of" like it, but after a few months I came home to IE. Just more comfortable for me. Funny how that stuff works.
You are not alone, there are many who prefer Firefox.
