I do understand they have to pay for the sight, and if we don't have to do it, That's cool. Some forums offer a "Paid" subscription, and free one. It's my understanding that the paid ones do not have as much of the advertising on them. FWIW I turned off my "Key words" thing on these and it seemed to help SOME.
On a Powerstroke website I go to it let you turn off the side bar stuff, can't find if that's a possibility on here or not yet.
I may get criticized for saying this, but if you run Firefox you can nix flash altogether with an add-on to disable all flash with an option to turn it on individually or set-up a white list. The add-on is called Flashblock.
Another add-on is AdBlock, and you can set up a white list for this, too--but otherwise it blocks all ads. If one gets through, right-click on it and add it to the black-list. Blocking all the fluff speeds up the connection considerably, but HDForums will still likely be slow to load pages, just not as slow.
Right now I'm seeing no ads at all on the right side of my screen. It's just a blank column, so what's not there is not downloading and chewing up bandwidth.
I switched to a macbook and my verizon wireless works much better and faster. No virus protection junk to slow you down. Just added the firefox adblock app. and the pages load even faster.
