Posting Pictures; Help Please
I'm an idiot. I know. But could someone direct me to some advice on posting pictures. I have stuff to sell, a bike to show off, but I have no idea how to post a picture ot even better, thumbnails. I'm a long time user of this forum, but always too afraid to ask for help. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thumbnails are easier. Below the reply go advanced, manage attachments and load from your computer files. Don't forget to upload!
Stash, let's start at the beginning. You need to download your pictures to your computer. What method you use would depend on your camera and computer, but let's say you have actual photo prints. You would need a scanner (often part of your printer), to scan the picture, and then save it onto your computer's picture files. Most computers come with a photo program. Click on your picture, and the program should open. Go the the edit feature, and resize the picture to no bigger than 640 in either width or heigth, and then resave the re-sized picture as a JPG file.
Now, when you have posted here, just click on the "Go Advanced" box below. Then click on "Manage Attachments." Click on "Browse" and locate the picture on your computer, and click on it, or "open" it. Then click on the "Upload" box, and if everything is okay, you will see the link to your picture. Close out that window, and click the Submit Reply button.
Your picture will be attached as a thumbnail. Those with slow computers will appreciate the thumbnail, rather than loading a full size picture from Photobucket.com, which takes forever to load on dial up.

Now, if you don't have photo program on your computer, you need one. Do a google search for IrfanView and download their free program, which will do amazing things at no cost to you.
If you have a digital camera you can upload pictures direct to your computer, or direct to most sites, as long as they are sized correctly.
Photobucket is a "picture host" where you can store your pictures and do all sorts of things, like make photo links, videos, etc. It has grown cumbersome to use with all its new features, but it's an amazing free site.
Hope this helps....we all started in the same place, so don't feel like an idiot.

Click on this thread, and you will see the result of posting too large of a picture.

Although it looks great, it is larger than the computer screen, so those looking at it have to scroll back and forth. Those on dial-up or old slow computers will cuss, because a picture that size will take minutes to load. That's why you need to resize your pictures before loading them to the internet.
If you right click on the picture, and then click on Properties, you can see the size of the picture, which is 1024 x 580, and it's using up 222,000 bytes.
