There you have it. AdBlock speeds up load time. This site is popular, more active users than other sites draws more advertisers. Fancy ads slow down load time. The managers of this site know that, but the advertisers pay the bills so it is allowed to continue. Those savy enough install ad blockers, others move to Firefox or Google chrome which have free ad blockers. IE 8/9 does not yet have a free ad blocker I could find.

One would think advertisers and forum operators would learn that we look at ads when we want something, and ignore them when we do not.

The simple adblock will work on IE8, not sure about 9. For 30 days it is free with unlimited blocks. After that you are limited to 200 free blocks a day which isn't much. For $10 you can get the updated, unlimited blocks version. I just finished my 30 days and 200 is not near enough.
I'm just going to use Firefox for this site.

I agree. I know what works for me. Others aren't willing to try a different solution.

I'd pay a few bucks a year to participate, but not with the slow a$$ service and all the BS pop - up ads. Oops - I'm probably going to get banned again for expressing my opinion. I keep forgetting - opinions aren't welcome on this site. We all have to pretend we appreciate the fine work being done by the folks that got all those fine ads for us to ignore.
If I could find a Harley forum that has as much traffic and info as this one then I would be gone and not worry about it anymore. The owners don't seem to give a rats butt how slow this forum runs due to the ads.

There should be no need to download some other BS browser to view just one single forum on the internet. I refuse to do so myself. I refuse to clutter my PC with a bunch of other crap just so I can browse 1 single forum (HDF). I mean give me a break, there are flash adds on the top of the page, down the whole right side of the page and ont he bottom of the page. It is like buying a 100 page magazine only to get 20 pages of info and 80 pages of advertisments.

Hell, some of the ads have absolutly nothing to do with H-D motorcycles muchless anything to do with motorcycles at all. I swear I seen an freaking ad for dog food in the top banner the other day.

What good are all these ads doing when people can't navigate the forums and just quit using the forum because it is soooooo slow. If they can't navigate the forum then they go someplace else and none of the ads get clicked on anyway.

I love the info that is provided on the forum but I got to tell ya, the site is slow, slower than any other I visit and I visit many of them. Normally I have to click a subject twice to get the page to open but it seems to work when I do. There has been one occasion where the site didn't open at all except the banner. This is a new computer, run my cache cleanup often, history cleaner etc, has nothing to do with it.

There are allot of users on the forum at times and this slows it down to a crawl at times. My opinion is that the server needs upgraded but when you are on a free forum that is worth using you deal with the problems and don't complain.....

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!
How dare you not reconfigure your settings to comply with their demands!
Some smartass will say "it must be hot in Ohio today"..

Never did get my initial question answered. Do paying members get attacked by SPAM when they navigate the site?

I used my new iPad last eve running Safari and had speed issues as well. I have tried other networks and browsers but still have same (speed) issues.

Not pissed, just reporting.

Maybe I can help. Donating members are still exposed to spam and slow forum response. It's all in what you can do about it if you desire to. If your reluctant to make an effort to increase your speed by other means, don't call down those who offer ways to do that. As for me, I loaded that other "BS" and never looked back....
btw..whats the weather like in juyt today, hot?

Sorry, would have replied sooner but I was on a faster forum..
Thanks for the answer though. Thought maybe those "features" you get for donating got rid of the flashing spam.
I will try the ad-blocker, too hot to ride here in Northern America today.
